There are those that sit down and need. And there are many places that you can go to and get your needs met! But don't come here and expect to be mad when your exact needs aren't met. Just enjoy this amazing food that they put so much love into! I mean just look at it! Ever thing we got was on point! Yeah my drink took twenty minutes! I shut up and pay respect to time and effort put into it, because it was a damn good drink! Salt foam!!! Love it! The ambiance raves abundance and energy! The walls are gorgeous in this place! The bar is one that's wide and inviting! You want to spend time here! I love this splash of decadence soul style in downtown! And where else can you get fried hen! It's so delicate and tasty!!!

the food was good, don't exactly remembered what I had but from what I remembered, the oysters, catfish, perloo, and the water was good. also, it was easy to get a table fast which seems like a bad thing, but wasn't I just remembered the vibes, interior, and service was good, I didn't have a bad time so that's worth 4 stars to me

Loved the ambience of the space!! The energy was at 100% when I arrived. I did however reserve a table, but I can never turn down a bar! I informed my server/bartender that I booked on open table and to check me in! I was greeted with a glass of water, and menu! You know what I came for.....the chicken and waffles!! Well!!!! They were amazing!!(I've found my new brunch spot in DTLA!) I also ordered a "build your own" mimosas! Did!!! A little pricey, but to be expected DTLA! It won't turn me away at all! Food was great!! It's really hard for me to find an amazing spot that does my chicken and waffle the way I enjoy!! No bones!!!!!!!!! And it's not a chicken tender! WASN'T!!!!! Chile!!! Yall gonna be tired of me here. I'm already trying to set up a date for dinner!!! A must check out!!!! I'll be telling my clients about this space for brunch! Maybe even dinner!! And to top it off!!!!!!! I only had 2 glasses of mimosas of my bottle...chile they sealed the bottle up and I took it home!!!! I myself, and referral to my clients!!! Will be back!! Enjoyed!!! Oh! And Zoe was awesome!!

Joyce has been on my list for a while, and I'm so grateful that I was finally knock it off of my list with my dear coworker friend. The restaurant opens at 5pm for dinner, so we were just about the first people there. But it did start to fill up later in the evening, so I recommend making a reservation for any day of the week. The interior was beautifully decorated for Christmas and felt very cozy. It was very festive and I loved the close attention to detail in their decorations, like the Christmas train on the table! It felt very welcoming! Our server was attentive and checked in on us appropriately. We didn't try their Christmas cocktails but did order a few of their food items: - Peruvian scallops (4) - they were ok, slightly disappointing. I found it a bit bland, a touch of sea salt might've brought out the flavors more - cast iron Mac and cheese ($21) - for the price, I expected delicious cheese flavors, and yes, that's what I got. It was a fancy Mac and cheese with generous cheesy flavors cooked and melted properly. It met my expectations. - Maple butternut squash - I know it has 'maple' in the name but it was overwhelmingly sweet for me. First bite was delicious, then after several more bites, I was kind of over it. - Blue crab gratin - this was probably my favorite dish. I liked the home-made crunchies that came with it, and it was a nice texture between the gratin and the crunch. - Beignets - these were piping hot when they came out. It came with tres leches dip and jam, I personally liked the jam more! These were quite generous in portions, so definitely share-worthy. It was a nice paring with my espresso, which adorably was served to me in a festive Santa (who unfortunately had a chipped nose!) Overall, it was a lovely dining experience with my friend. The interior's festive decoration really made this place feel cozy and heart-warming. I'll likely come back here a second time if they change up their menu a bit.

Charming restaurant in the heart of downtown Los Angeles! Just enough Christmas decor to complement the season. I was in a group of 7 for dinner and at first we panicked when we saw a number of items crossed off of the menu. Six of us had never been before, and many of the items who wanted to try seemed to be unavailable. Just then a lovely lady came by and assured us we would be able to order our mac & cheese and fried catfish. And good thing too..They were definitely winners! We also enjoyed the cornbread and fried hen and biscuits. We weren't too crazy about the greens or the black tiger, prawn and oyster perloo. Great service. I look forward to going back for brunch.

Trying new places is something I enjoy doing. Spending time with friends is another. Combining the two, brings me joy. And this happened earlier this week at Joyce DTLA. Start with parking. It's LA after all. Parking structure, right across the street. I mean, literally. $7 flat rate. It's after a certain time. Don't remember what time, but it's posted on a big sign before you enter. Also don't know what other restrictions there might be. Made a reservation. Again, it's DTLA. Didn't feel I needed to. The restaurant wasn't empty but steady. But it's always good to, just in case. We opted to sit at the bar. After all, drinks would definitely be had. The service was great. A few hiccups but nothing that wasn't resolved or negatively impacted our experience. Surely didn't help that my friend and I were semi just hanging out then out of the blue, ordering something else. But like I said - great. Attentive. Friendly. I'd definitely sit at the bar again. Food and drinks were great too! See pics. Just know a few drink pics didn't make the cut (because of me). Ordered off both the Happy Hour and regular menu for both food and drinks. If you're looking for the staple dishes, know that it won't be that. It'll be names you'll recognize with Chef Sammy's modern twists focusing but not completely on seafood. Tried the Braised Short Rib. Was so tender you didn't need a fork and knife. Or teeth. Anyway, it's not far from work so Joyce will definitely be on the list of places I'll head back to, to try the rest of the menu.
